Why This Blog?

First, to be clear: we are Barack Obama supporters.

Next, why write this blog? Senator Obama has said:

“The stakes are too high and the challenges too great to play the same old Washington games with the same old Washington players.”

The purpose of this blog is to ensure that Senator Obama lives up to the standards — and the expectations — which he has set.

It has been said that politics is the art of the possible. Or was it the art of the compromise? Something like that…

Either way, they’re both wrong — politics is all about getting your hopes dashed through compromise.

We put faith in our leaders. This campaign, more than ever before, we have hope. Obama has promised usĀ  he is not interested in politics as usual. That promise has brought enthusiasm (and money) from millions of Americans who would otherwise be too cynical to participate. That’s what we’re trying to avoid — having our hopes dashed. And the politics of compromise means, at some point, inevitably, our expectations will be failed.

We will be let down.

This blog, then, is written with the goal of keeping Obama to his word; to call him out when he lets us down on the very issues that brought us into his campaign to begin with.
